EQT Foundation today announced the creation and availability of new scholarships for students in Belmont County in Ohio, and Greene and Washington Counties in Pennsylvania.

The EQT Students of Excellence Scholarship Program will award five $1,000 scholarships, plus one scholarship of up to $18,000 per school year, renewable for up to three consecutive years, to graduating high school students in each county.  Eligible students must pursue a degree in a field that is utilized in the energy industry, such as computer science or information technology; civil, chemical or petroleum engineering; energy or land management; environmental science; geology; safety science; or welding.

The scholarships are being facilitated through local partners: Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley; Community Foundation of Greene County; and the Washington County Community Foundation.  Each community foundation will solicit and review applications and distribute awards to students in their respective county.

“EQT Foundation identifies and funds opportunities that impact the communities we serve in powerful ways,” said Dave Smith, President, EQT Foundation.  “We believe there is no better way to shape the future than by supporting the education of tomorrow’s leaders and innovators.”

Application due dates are as follows: Washington County Community Foundation by April 1, 2019; Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley by April 12, 2019; and Community Foundation of Greene County by April 15, 2019. Application requirements can be found on each of the community foundation websites, which are linked in the above deadline dates.
